In Copenhagen, there are more bicycles than residents and about 50 percent of the population bike to work, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that an innovative bicycle would be invented there.
Jesper Frausig has developed Solar Bike, a solar-powered electric bike able to travel about 40 miles on a full charge.
How Exercise Can Be Better Than Meds
One of the main advantages of a solar-powered bike is that you don’t have to plug it in. Just park it in the sunlight and you’re good to go. The solar panels embedded in the wheels harvest sunlight and store the energy in a battery mounted to the frame.
When you’re in motion, the motor uses energy from both the solar cells and the battery to propel the bike forward.
The bike has a top speed of 30 mph, getting you to where you need to go quickly and without the sweat.
